The best Firewall is at your provider's level, so before reaching your server. After this, the best is to block the connections with ufw or iptables in your server at Linux level. But this requires dedicated System Administrators analysing the logs and root access.

This plugin checks the connections that arrive to the server, detects the abusive patterns and blocks the offending IPs automatically. So easily, without you doing anything, will be protected from abusive connections from IP addresses in the Internet.

You can also add your rules to block certain patterns and you can block individual IPs and IP ranges.
